Base Ball

Base Ball: New Research on the Early Game is a peer-reviewed book series published annually. Offering the best in original research and analysis, it promotes study of baseball’s early history, from its protoball roots to 1920, and its rise to prominence within American popular culture. Prior to Volume 10, Base Ball was published as Base Ball: A Journal of the Early Game.

Call for Submissions
Base Ball is a peer-reviewed, annually published book that invites article submissions related to amateur and professional baseball at all levels through 1920. A range of disciplinary perspectives and methodologies are welcome, and topics appropriate to the series may come from any number of subject areas, including history, art and literature, cultural studies, politics, and business. Long-form nonfiction articles are considered; poetry, fiction, and unsolicited reviews will be returned unread. Previously published articles and simultaneous submissions are not considered. Articles should be approximately 3,000 to 8,000 words. Be sure to include a 100- to 150-word abstract and a 75-word biographical statement with any submission.

An email attachment in Microsoft Word or plain text is required. Number pages consecutively. To ensure anonymity during the peer-review process, name and contact information should appear only on a separate cover page. Editorial decisions will be sent out within 60 days of manuscript receipt.
